Writing About an Offensive Encounter

 Prompt Response: While writing my story, I felt uncomfortable and a little angry because the situation was unfair. I also felt sad thinking about how someone could be hurt by offensive words.

Summary: The part that affected me the most was writing about how the person felt after the encounter. It made me think about how words can affect people.

Reflection: I learned that words are powerful. We should think before we speak because something we say as a joke could hurt someone else.

Write about a fear you have overcome.

  Prompt Response: One fear I have overcome is being afraid to speak in front of people. I used to feel nervous when everyone was looking at me. Summary: I started speaking more in class and practicing before I had to present. After doing it more, I became more comfortable. Reflection: I learned that being nervous is okay, but I should not let fear stop me. Now I feel more confident when I have to speak in front of others.
